6 Period Stiff Members......

Dear 6 period,

Here are the questions for your assignment, seems easier to find if all of them are here instead of looking for all of them.

1.How does Mary Roach appeal to you with her way of writing?

2.How does modern society see these surgeons working on cadavers for new techniques for the future?

3.Why do you think Ms. Roach enjoys doing what she is doing?

4.Do you believe we should use cadavers to improve (fix) the future or is it being cruel to the body? Explain. (Accidents, Murder Cases, etc)

5.How would you feel if your best friend was a cannibal but he was just raised and believed it wasn't wrong. What would you do?

6. Overall what grade would you give Mary Roach about her non-fiction text and would you have done what she did to write this book?

1.) Mary Roach is very humorous in Stiff, and that is what appeals to me. She manages to take a topic so serious and even taboo to a number of people, and make it both appealing and interesting at the same time.

4.) I would not say we are fixing the future with the use of cadavers but we are indeed improving it. I remember reading about how bodies can be decomposed and returned to the earth...now that is an improvement. I personally dont feel that cadaver usage is cruel and/or unusual because one can easily say that allowing a boy to rot away in a wooden box is just as mortifying.

6.) A+ for Roach and Stiff. The book as interesting, funny, and it made me more aware of how much the cadaver can do for society. And I have to commend her on facing some of the grueling tasks people do with cadavers on a daily. Would I have done it? Yes. They say curiosity killed the cat, but after reading Stiff I think a little more than curiosity did that.

1. Well, I definately enjoyed reading Stiff solely for the humor that Roach used throughout the book. It was appealing to me for her to give me facts, but in a new, almost entertaining way, that definately kept my attention.

6. I would give Mary Roach an 'A' hands down for writing such an educational, but humorous book. I doubt if I would ever write a book such as Stiff, mostly because this isnt neccessarily my cup of tea. I'm interested in medicine, but not so much about the use of cadavers. :]
